Clinsol Gel is a topical medication for the treatment of acne. It is not an over the counter medication and can be bought only with the prescription from a doctor. The gel is a combination of two medicinal compounds . These two compounds are Clindamycin which is an antibiotic and Nicotinamide which is a vitamin B3. These two compounds work together by fighting bacteria and helping reduce inflammation. 

How Does Clinsol Gel work?

Clinsol gel contains 1% Clindamycin that kills acne causing bacteria. It is useful for treating Propionibacterium acnes. Clindamycin is an antibiotic that easily gets absorbed by the skin and kills the acne -causing bacteria. Besides this, Clinsol gel also contains 4% Nicotinamide which is anti inflammatory and helps with skin healing.Nicotinamide is a form of vitamin B, which when applied to the skin helps reduce swelling, tenderness as well as redness.

Clinsol is usually prescribed to treat mild to moderate acne. Dermatologists give this medication to treat pimples, blackheads and whiteheads as well. It also used to control excess oil production. Further, it helps prevent breakouts as well. It does this by reducing the excess oil production in the skin as well. Excessive oil in the skin is one of the reasons for acne. It takes a few weeks for the skin to have noticeable effects of Clinsol gel. Sometimes your acne may get worse before getting better. So continue using for as long as the doctor has prescribed it. How To Use Clinsol Gel

Clinsol gel can be applied in 4 simple steps. 

  • The first step is to wash your hands before applying the gel. 
  • Second, wash the affected area as well. 
  • Avoid applying this gel on eyes, mouth or broken shin.
  • Lastly follow up with applying moisturizer if needed.

There are a few important precautions that should be taken with Clinsol gel

  • The first point to remember is that it is for external use only.
  • It should not be applied on broken or sunburnt skin. 
  • The cream may cause mild irritation or dryness initially.
